Opposition to the Digital Economy Bill is reaching boiling point after several members of the House of Lords announced their intention to oppose the controversial Clause 17 of the Bill.

Lords Razzall, Clement-Jones, Whitty and Lucas all say they'd oppose the inclusion of Clause 17 – that is, the three strikes disconnection policy.

Lord Puttnam and Lord Bragg tabled an amendment which would see any changes to copyright laws subject to parliamentary scrutiny.

The Lords' dissent will be welcome news to many technology companies, which are concerned that about making copyright law in the UK uncertain.
